  經(jīng)云:“三祇修;,百劫種相好”。世上沒(méi)有天然的彌勒,自然的釋迦,佛之所以成為佛,無(wú)不是在因地時(shí)發(fā)四弘誓愿,于三大阿僧祇劫中嚴(yán)持諸佛凈戒,勤修一切善法,廣修六度萬(wàn)行,又經(jīng)歷百劫的刻苦修行,積聚福德資糧,饒益無(wú)邊眾生,因此成就三十二相、八十種好的莊嚴(yán)德相,福慧圓滿(mǎn)具足,證得最究竟無(wú)上的覺(jué)悟。

  The Buddhist Sūtras state: “cultivate the merit (puṇya) and wisdom (prajñ。 through three incalculable eons and acquire the great characteristic marks of the Buddha through 100 kalpas (eons)”。 No natural Maitreya or Śākyamuni exists in the world.

  The Buddha accomplished Buddhahood because the Buddha: (1) made four encompassing vows during his causal practices; (2) strictly abided by the pure precepts of all Buddhas through three incalculable eons; (3) diligently cultivated all wholesome (kuśala) Dharmas, (4) comprehensively practiced the Six Perfections (pāramit。 and all disciplines, (5) went through 100 kalpas of assiduous cultivation and accumulated meritorious and wholesome nutriment; and (6) benefited boundless sentient beings. Consequently, the Buddha was endowed with grandeur appearance with the thirty-two distinguishing marks (dvātriṃśan-mahā-puruṣa-lakṣaṇāni) and the eighty minor marks (aśītir-anuvyañjanāni) in the body. The Buddha cultivated the perfect merit and wisdom and attained the unsurpassed and ultimate perfect enlightenment (anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi)。
